Bowling Unified Activity
Bowling is an activity enjoyed year-round. AADD has two bowling programs we manage. There are many other programs we help to support. We bowl Saturday mornings from October through early March at Suburban Lanes in Decatur and at Brunswick Zone in Roswell. There are all levels of ability - from ramp bowlers to scratch bowlers. We have several unified bowling teams made up of two Special Olympics athletes and two coaches’ friends or relatives of the athletes. Our unified teams participate in the State Special Olympics masters bowling tournament during the summer each year. Everyone is welcome at our bowling.

Swimming Unified Activity
AADD's Special Olympics swim team practices each Tuesday evening, 7:30 to 8:30 PM, from October through May. We are lucky enough to practice at the Emory University swimming pool. Also, members from Emory University swim team help coach our team. We host several swim meets each year with other Special Olympics teams from the metro area. We also participate in Special Olympics summer games at Emory University each spring. This is a great program at no cost to participants.

Bocce
Bocce is an easy, slow-paced, laid-back type of a game that’s fun for all. Some call it Italian Lawn Bowling. The object of the game is for one team to bowl their four bocce balls closer to the target ball than the other team. AADD also has a large number of unified teams that compete in the Special Olympics state fall games each year. We play July through October on Thursday mornings and Wednesday evenings at Mason Mill Park in the Toco Hills Area. There is no charge except for special events (scholarships available for those events). This is a Unified Bocce group. Everyone is welcomed to play. We need more players for this group.

Cycling - Join AADD's Team in the
Bicycle Ride Across Georgia 2008 (BRAG)
350+ miles Oxford GA to St Simons Island GA
(Unified Activity - including persons with disabilities and without disabilities)
This year, AADD’s cycling team will again participate in BRAG, and we are looking for riders for our Special Olympics team. We will train, evaluate, ride with, and support riders on this ride. We’ve had good success with taking riders who can only ride a few miles and training them to ride between thirty and sixty miles a day.
This is a week-long bike ride from Oxford, to St Simons Island, GA, June 7-14.
We have our own support van and driver following us along the route for those riders who need extra support, and many do. We camp each evening, in a school gym, along with many of the other riders on BRAG.
If you are curious, give Dan a call at 404-326-5345. Also check the BRAG website at www.brag.org.
