1990: AADD education program tours Georgia

"Tomorrow's Child" exhibit, a mobile audio-visual display created and staffed by AADD, is used to educate middle- and high-school students about the importance of saying "No" to risky behaviors that can lead to developmental disabilities. This program is later renamed "AADDolescent Matters" and changes to become a course lasting several weeks, targeted at middle school students at the highest risk for teen pregnancy.

1991: AADD initiates plan for pregnant and parenting teens
Recognizing the correlation between good prenatal care and healthy babies, AADD begins Project Future. This program provides one-on-one support to pregnant and parenting teens, which increases the likelihood that teen mothers will have, keep, and raise healthier babies.

Project Future also helps young parents get back to school and finish their education, avoid subsequent pregnancies, and learn how to parent their children well.

1992: Speaking up and speaking out: AADD advances advocacy program
AADD brings Partners in Policymaking to Georgia. This nationally recognized program helps persons with developmental disabilities and their families sharpen skills to become self-advocates.

1997: AADD goes on-line
The website www.aadd.org helps people with developmental disabilities, their families, and the general public find out more about the services AADD provides. It also highlights legislative updates, educational information, general information about developmental disabilities, special events, and recreational opportunities.
