One in ten families in Georgia lives with, or is affected by, a developmental disability.*
PLEASE HELP SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY AS A LEGACY 2008 SPONSOR - FIND OUT HOW.
On October 23, 2008, more than 300 of Georgia’s key leaders will join legendary University of Georgia football coach Vince Dooley and his wife, Barbara, to attend Legacy 2008, the most significant public awareness and fundraising event of the year for the Atlanta Alliance on Developmental Disabilities (AADD).
This year’s inspiring event is all the more significant as it officially marks the expansion of state-wide advocacy efforts by this 52-year-old organization that works to build communities of support, acceptance, and opportunity for children, adults, and families living with developmental disabilities. Further, this year “the gloves come off” as we explore some of today’s most pressing problems facing families living with developmental disabilities. We aim to explode myths about developmental disabilities, challenge human, civil, and life-threatening injustices, and expand horizons – for persons living with developmental disabilities as well as for AADD and Georgia.
During this inspiring one-hour event, you will learn more about the ways AADD impacts your community as it helps families living with developmental disabilities function more effectively through family support, community education, advocacy, and public policy initiatives.
