On October 23, 2008, more than 300 of Georgia’s leaders will attend Legacy 2008, ADDD’s most
significant public awareness and fundraising event of the year. This inspiring event is all the more important as it marks the official introduction of a new name for the 52-year-old organization, which works to build communities of support, acceptance, and opportunity for children, adults, and families living with developmental disabilities.
In FY 2007, AADD’s work touched the lives of more than 13,000 Georgians living with developmental disabilities and their families. Examples of developmental disabilities include intellectual disabilities (formerly called mental retardation), Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, Spina Bifida, and traumatic brain injuries before the age of 22.
