Jocelyn Dorsey Community Philanthropy Award
This award recognizes an individual, group, or organization whose dedicated efforts have resulted in significant, outstanding support and resources to further the achievement of the AADD mission.
Chip Conrad has served on AADD’s Board of Directors since early the 1990s, including two terms as President. He has been incredibly generous with his time and talents, especially since he is a very busy senior partner in King & Spalding’s Finance Practice Group. In fact, for each of the past several years, he has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America and by Chambers USA as a leading lawyer in his practice area.
Mr. Conrad has provided legal advice that has protected AADD in lease agreement terms, contracts with third parties, and other legal issues. Time has shown that AADD has been extremely well served by the legal counsel Mr. Conrad has provided, either himself, or through his associates. According to Doug McKay, “when Mr. Conrad served as President, in addition to clear direction and sage counsel, he often brought the resource of humor, using his wit to relieve tension, or sometimes to wake a few of us up.”
Mr. Conrad introduced a foundation to AADD which has been very generous and effective in expanding our visibility and impact. He and his wife Darlene, hosted the 2007 Legacy Breakfast, providing AADD the resource of access to many influential Atlantans who did not yet know about AADD.
Chip Conrad’s leadership to AADD has been exemplary. He stated, “We’d all like to create a society that’s more accepting and accommodating for people with disabilities. I’m proud that AADD is a strong voice as a public advocate for people with developmental disabilities.”
